Cauridor appoints ex-Flutterwave Global Head of Operations Awa Koné as COO

Cauridor, the cross-border payment infrastructure company operating across 36 African countries, has named Awa Koné as its Chief Operating Officer. The appointment comes as the company looks to scale the operational infrastructure behind its pan-African payments network.

Koné joins Cauridor from Flutterwave, where she spent over five years as Global Head of Operations. As a senior leader, she played a critical role in building and scaling the payment and treasury infrastructure that supported the company’s rapid growth across multiple markets in Africa, Europe, America and Asia. Her leadership helped strengthen operational resilience, optimize cross-border flows, and expand financial partnerships globally.

She brings deep expertise in African Fintech, cross-border money movement, and operating in complex, regulated environments; key areas that align with Cauridor’s mission to power seamless financial connectivity across the continent.

Prior to Flutterwave, Koné served as General Manager at Swiss Re Cote d’Ivoire, where she led the company’s greenfield expansion into West Africa, establishing a strong regional presence and building strategic partnerships across the insurance ecosystem.

Commenting on her appointment, Awa Koné, Chief Operating Officer at Cauridor, said “I am excited to join Cauridor at such a pivotal moment. The opportunity to help build infrastructure that simplifies cross-border payments and unlocks real economic opportunities across the African continent is incredibly compelling.”

Founded by Guinean-born Oumar Barry and Abdoulaye Bah in 2022, Cauridor is a US-based B2B-focused fintech on a mission to digitally transform Africa’s financial ecosystem. Through a single API, the company integrates mobile money providers, banks, and international money transfer operators, enabling seamless, interoperable cross-border payments across 36 African countries. It partners with global leaders including Ria, MoneyGram, Western Union, Taptap Send, Ecobank, UBA, MTN, and Orange to deliver competitive FX rates, trusted relationships, and localised customer support. Through its consumer-facing brand, BNB, Cauridor is expanding financial inclusion with an extensive agent network and a user-friendly digital app, empowering communities across Africa.

Cauridor CEO, Dr. Oumar Barry said “What struck me about Awa was not just her experience but her understanding of what it takes to build in African markets specifically. Her track record speaks for itself, but it is that contextual depth that truly sets her apart. We are building something significant at Cauridor and having her lead our operations puts us in a strong position for what comes next.”
